Claire's Farewell Party and Graduation Celebration

We celebrated Teresa and Elaine’s graduation and Claire’s farewell party on January 30 and some of us went to their graduation ceremony the next day. We drew Claire’s beautiful face on a piece of paper on our head. Rachel won the first prize [she has serious mad skill: drawing beautiful picture without looking] and Lydia was next. We also played telephone game, which was equally won by both groups. We might be a group of international students, but the game had proven that we could hear English accurately. On that day, there is an abundant of good food (potluck), so much food that many of us go home with a to-go box. We ended the night with cutting cakes and blowing candles to wish congratulation to Teresa, Elaine, and Claire. We took a lot of pictures in the end.
Although Claire was only in the group for a short time, her presence bring joy to many of us. She is funny and carefree. She is very open and love to share. Her favorite line was: “What happened?” One day, we were so confused because there was a mysterious yummy caramel covered popcorn right below the kitchen sink. After extensive investigation, Claire was the culprit. Although some of us like to tease her, she handles it like a man. We miss Claire so much.

ISI Claremont 2009 New Year Greetings!

We started this year by going to Joshua Tree National Park on January 3, 2008.  There are 19 people in this trip, including 10 students, 5 American friends, and 4 children.

A day prior to the trip, a couple of students had a sleepover at J's and Egid's because we started the day early morning, at 6:30 AM, on the day of the trip.  Rachel, Sam, and Yok prepared a hot-pot dinner for all of the students who came the day before the trip.  It was very yummy.  We even have leftovers that we continued to eat for lunch on Sunday, a day "after' the trip. After the hot-pot dinner, we prepared turkey sandwiches for tomorrows’ lunch.

At the Joshua Tree National Park, we played a couple of games and went on a Keys’ Ranch tour.  The weather was freezing, but we managed to do a half-mile hike, visited a cactus garden, and the visitor center as well.

On our way home, we stopped by at Cabazon outlet to do a little bit of shopping or window-shopping for about three hours.  We left Cabazon at 7:30 PM and were able to come home around 9:30 PM.
